Christina, 10, is a fifth grader at Freedom Elementary school in West Chester, Ohio. She began playing violin at the age of four. She is the youngest member of Starling Chamber Orchestra in Starling Project at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music where she studies with Prof. Kurt Sassmannshaus. In 2011, she was the winner of the Forte Strings Competition, and second prizewinner of the Sejong Music Competition. Christina performs frequent solos with Starling Chamber Orchestra in their concerts. She was a featured soloist in the opening concert of National Convention of the American String Teachers Association in Atlanta, Georgia. This past summer, she participated in Philadelphia International Music Festival in Bryn Mar College, PA and JK Music Festival in South Korea. She also joined in the Great Wall International Music Academy in Beijing, China where she was chosen to appear on NPR’s From the Top with Christopher O’Riley. For her future performance engagements in 2013, Christina will make a debut as a soloist with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in Young People’s Concert, and also with Seven Hills Sinfonietta of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is excited to perform at Carnegie Hall as a proud member of Bel Canto of Cincinnati Children’s Choir in March 2013. She also enjoys playing piano, reading books, biking and swimming. |
