Christina Nam, nine years old, is a fourth grader at Freedom Elementary school in West Chester, Ohio. She began playing violin at the age of four. She currently studies with Professor Kurt Sassmannshaus and also with Professor Piotr Milewski during Summer months at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music(CCM). She is a member of Sassmannshaus Traditions Chamber Orchestra at CCM and the youngest member of Advanced Violin Ensemble at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. She has performed solos with Starling Chamber Orchestra at CCM, which she will join this spring. She has played in Masterclasses for Gabriel Peggis and Norman Johns, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra members, and Dr. Won-bin Yim, CCM faculty member. She has performed at Cincinnati Music Hall playing pre-concert music for Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra with Wyoming String Academy. She was a violin soloist for Northern Kentucky University (NKU) Prep Choir Concerts and performed in Greaves Concert Hall at NKU and Cathedral Basilica in Covington, Kentucky. Recently, she has won the first prize in Forte Strings Competition in Fishers, Indiana. Besides playing her violin, she sings with the Jubilate Choir of Cincinnati Children’s Choir and studies piano. She also enjoys reading books, doing gymnastics and swimming. As a singer, she has appeared with the Cincinnati Opera in its regular season production of Verdi’s Otello at the Music Hall, and with Flood Wall Jazz Quartet of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. |
