Eric Lin, an 11-year-old, attends 6th grade at Twin Groves Middle School. Since 2008, he has been studying piano with Brenda Huang, a faculty member of the Music Institute of Chicago. Starting piano lessons at 5 ½, Eric has won many awards such as in the ISMTA and Walgreens Concerto Competitions. He has also won numerous gold medals in the Sonata festivals, and first prizes in the Confucius Festival and NSMTA. Most recently, he was a finalist in the Seattle International Piano Festival Competition and was awarded the best Performance of a Debussy Etude. In June 2011, he won the first place in the 13th Annual Chopin Youth Piano Competition in Milwaukee, WI. During summer camp at IIYM Music Academy (International Institute for Young Musicians) in July 2011, he was featured on Kansas Public Radio. In his free time, Eric likes to play chess and Go, bike, swim, and other sports. Eric is also an avid reader. Being chosen in the 8th grade honors math program as a 6th grader, he excels in math. Eric plays the violin in the school orchestra.
