Colin Choi is a fourth grader at Shabonee Elementary School in Northbrook, IL. He started playing piano at age 5 and is a student of Sueanne Metz. He has received gold medals and prize awards in the North Shore Music Teacher’s Association, Chicago Area Music Teachers Sonata-Sonatina Festival, Illinois Music Association Competition, Grandquist Music Competition in Olympic Division and most recently won first place in Junior Division of Confucius Music Festival. In 2009, he was chosen to perform at the Kennedy Center for International Youth Praise Festival. In November of 2010, he performed at Carnegie Hall as the winner of the International Chopin Celebration Competition. He also plays cello and has won prize awards in the Grandquist Music Competition and Confucius. Outside music, Colin enjoys basketball, fishing, reading about animals, video games and his marine reef aquarium.
